FIRE RISK ASSESSMENTS

To comply with the new legislation, care homes need to have a fire risk assessment carried out by the responsible person.

The new Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 that came into force on 1st October 2006, requires each individual care home to be responsible for their own fire safety and to conduct a fire risk assessment regardless of the size of the risk and, if five or more people are employed, this risk assessment must be recorded.

Although there is a guide to help you comply with the law, you may not feel confident to carry out your own fire risk assessment or your premises may be too complicated or too large. If this is the case, under the Order you are strongly be advised to nominate a competent supplier, one that can demonstrate it has ‘the appropriate skills and experience’

Our fire risk assessors are ex-fire officers with many years hands-on experience of conducting fire risk assessments in a variety of buildings including residential care premises.

We also offer training in fire risk assessment
